Anton Kontski, Les Ruines de Hapsal

for string orchestra

Anton Kantski’s Les Ruines de Hapsal (Op. 174) is a lyrical, dignified miniature steeped in Romantic warmth. This string-orchestra arrangement preserves the expressive melodic writing and graceful harmonic pacing of the original, giving every section moments of gentle prominence. The flowing Moderato opening introduces a nostalgic, hymn-like theme, followed by more animated passages that move through rich inner-voice textures and expressive rallentandos. The result is a heartfelt and atmospheric piece suitable for both concert performance and educational ensembles
