Prelude in awe

for SAATBB choir

Prelude in awe is a serene and atmospheric work that unfolds in long, sustained lines, creating a sense of stillness and reverence. The piece opens with each voice entering with gentle, steady tones, forming a warm, blended sonority.

As the music moves into page 2, subtle dynamic swells into mf provide lift and color before returning to the calm, sustained texture. The harmonic language is simple yet resonant, emphasizing openness and clarity. Throughout, the lack of text heightens the meditative character, inviting listeners into a contemplative, almost wordless prayer.

The final pages (3–4) settle back into soft dynamics, ending with a quiet, unified release that leaves a lingering sense of peace. This short, introspective work makes an effective concert opener, transition piece, or atmospheric moment within worship or reflective programs.
